Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus strikes gold in bid to enhance tenant services
DARESBURY Science and Innovation Campus (SIC) has set up links with four companies to offer its hi-tech tenants access to specialist services and improve business links across the site.
The four inaugural 'Gold Partners' are business advisors CBG Group, Montpelier Chartered Accountants, business law specialist Stonecracker Scientific Legal Network/MSB and Shipley, which provides advice on intellectual property and technology law.

Lawyer admits: We had it too easy
Lawyers had it all their own way before the downturn and the pressures on them can only intensify as more legal work becomes commoditised, says Andrew Chalmers, who leads one of Scotland's smallest full-service commercial law firms.
Smaller firms must also have international links, and DC is part of the Global Law network where Mr Chalmers is a director. It has also been recently chosen by Canadian firm Stonecracker, a specialist in tax credits for research and development, as its Scottish partner, after a beauty parade instigated by the Law Society of Scotland and backed by Scottish Enterprise.

Canadian tie-up opens route for law firm
Stonecracker is believed to be the only firm in the world working exclusively in the specialist field of research and development (R&D) tax credits.
It has many years' experience in Canada, whose R&D tax-credit legislation was the model for the UK. Its aim is to help firms recover tax costs from the government by offering advice, filing claims and defending cases.

A Scottish law firm has signed an innovative partnership deal with a Canadian company to provide specialist tax advice to businesses undertaking research and development.
Davidson Chalmers linked up with Calgary-based law firm Stonecracker Scientific Legal Network after the Law Society of Scotland helped to identify possible partners in Scotland.
